The Sigma Chi Emerging Leaders Scholarship
About Us:
Sigma Chi is one of the oldest and largest College Greek letter Fraternities in the world. Established in 1855 In Miami, Ohio, Sigma Chi has grown to include 239 chapters with over 300,000 members in both the United States and Canada. Sigma Chi’s purpose is to promote Friendship, Justice, and Learning and life-long brotherhood. Our mission statement is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus, and community. Our national vision is “to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values". Notable Sigma Chi alumni include: David letterman, Brad Pitt, John Wayne, Mike Ditka, Drew Brees, Tom Selleck, and Luke Bryant. Locally they include David DiLorenzo, Joe Maloof, Tom Popejoy, Raymond Sanchez, and Don Chalmers among many others.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Sigma Chi Emerging Leaders Scholarship is to identify and award future leaders. The Sigma Chi chapter at the University of New Mexico is committed to helping the University and the community and as such, is awarding this merit-based scholarship of $1000.00 to the most worthy candidate.
